ABOUT US

The Company

McLeod County Abstract & Title Company is owned by the law firm of Dove, Fretland and Van Valkenburg. It has been in business for over 20 years and is one of the oldest title companies in the McLeod County area.

All Title Insurance policies are underwritten by Stewart Title Guaranty, who ranks third in overall premium volume among individual underwriters. Stewart Title Guaranty is based out of Houston, Texas and for the third year in a row, has been included in the prestigious Forbes Platinum 400 list of America's best performing big companies. Stewart Title Guaranty's of over 30 years of consecutive growth in reserves and surplus is unmatched in the title industry.

It is important that you, as a prospective policyholder, know the financial strength of the insurer issuing your policy. Consolidated or "family" financials have not been used, as only your individual insurer has legal liability under your policy. The other members of the consolidated group do not.

The Individuals

Marilyn M. Rusch ~ Manager/Abstractor

Marilyn has been with the Company for 9 years. She is our licensed abstractor and title examiner. She previously worked for 27 years in the banking industry and has a wide range of experience in consumer, commercial and residential real estate lending.

Marilyn volunteers as a teacher for the Home Stretch Workshops for First Time Homebuyers. She is currently a member of the Hutchinson Ambassadors, and a Board Member of the Hutchinson Area Dollars for Scholars Program. She has also been involved with the McLeod County 4-H program, Parents for Seniors, County Holstein Association and various church and community organizations.

With Marilyn's work experience and involvement in the community we are confident she will help make your real estate closing as smooth and comfortable as you expect it to be. Feel free to contact Marilyn with any questions you might have relating to closing and/or abstracting issues.

 

Becky Woelfel- Closing Expert

Becky is our Real Estate Closer. She has been with the Company for 5 years and has past
real estate and banking experience. After graduating from college with a Business Management degree, Becky worked briefly in retail before moving into banking, after which she joined McLeod County Abstract & Title. Besides managing our Closing Department, Becky is also in charge of issuing Title Commitments and Policies. She also helps out in the Abstracting department.

Becky has graduated from the Hutchinson Leadership Development Class is also involved in various volunteer activities at church.

With Becky's customer service skills and her involvement with real estate closings and abstracting, we are confident she will help make your real estate closing an enjoyable experience.

 

Linda Kurth - Support Staff

Linda works part-time for McLeod County Abstract & Title and has been with us for more than 5 years. She is in charge of opening files, paying the bills and following up to insure all files have been completed. Linda also helps out with the Abstracting department, as needed.

Linda also currently works as part-time Secretary for St. John's Lutheran Church. She has been very active in the Renville County 4-H program in the past and volunteers for various activities at her church.

Paul D. Dove*

Paul has been a practicing attorney in the State of Minnesota for forty years. During the first part of his career, Paul was also a licensed Real Estate Broker. His certification as a Real Property Law Specialist by the Minnesota Bar Association means that he has passed a special exam, must continually attend continuing real estate courses covering real estate issues and devotes a substantial part of his practice to the real estate area. Paul has represented numerous developers and lending institutions as well as individual buyers in both commercial and residential transactions. He makes himself available to the staff at McLeod County Abstract & Title Services, L.L.C. on a daily basis to answer questions or to review particular real estate issues. He also prepares Title Opinions, when requested by its clients.
