The Company

McLeod County Abstract & Title Company is owned by the law firm of Dove, Fretland and Van Valkenburg. It has been in business for over 25 years and is one of the oldest title companies in the McLeod County area.

All Title Insurance policies are underwritten by Stewart Title Guaranty, who ranks third in overall premium volume among individual underwriters. Stewart Title Guaranty is based out of Houston, Texas and for the third year in a row, has been included in the prestigious Forbes Platinum 400 list of America's best performing big companies. It is important that you, as a prospective policyholder, know the financial strength of the insurer issuing your policy. Consolidated or "family" financials have not been used, as only your individual insurer has legal liability under your policy. The other members of the consolidated group do not.

The Individuals

		Marilyn M. Rusch ~ Manager/Abstractor Marilyn has been with the Company for 13 years. She is our licensed abstractor and title examiner. She previously worked for 27 years in the banking industry and has a wide range of experience in consumer, commercial and residential real estate lending. Marilyn volunteers as a teacher for the Home Stretch Workshops for First Time Homebuyers. She has been involved with the Hutchinson Ambassadors, McLeod County 4-H program, Parents for Seniors, County Holstein Association and various church and community organizations. With Marilyn's work experience and involvement in the community we are confident she will help make your real estate experience as comfortable as you expect it to be. 		Becky Woelfel- Closing Expert Becky is our Real Estate Closer. She has been with the Company for 9 years and has past real estate and banking experience. After graduating from college with a Business Management degree, Becky worked briefly in retail before moving into banking, after which she joined McLeod County Abstract & Title. Besides managing our Closing Department, Becky is also in charge of issuing Title Commitments and Policies. She also helps out in our Abstracting department. Becky has graduated from the Hutchinson Leadership Development Class and is also involved in various volunteer activities at church. With Becky's customer service skills and her involvement with real estate closings and abstracting, we are confident she will help make your real estate closing an enjoyable experience. becky@mcleodtitle.com
		Linda Kurth - Support Staff Linda works part-time for McLeod County Abstract & Title and has been with us for more than 9 years. She is in charge of opening files, paying the bills and following up to insure all files have been completed, and Linda helps out with Abstracting, as needed. Linda also currently works as part-time Secretary for St. John's Lutheran Church. She has been very active in the Renville County 4-H program in the past and volunteers for various activities at her church. 		Kathy Machtemes - Closing Expert Kathy joined us in December of 2009. She brings over 25 years of experience working in the financial industry. Her background involves consumer, residential, and commercial lending support. Kathy works closely with Becky on all our closings. As a team you can be assured someone is always available to assist you with any questions or concerns you have, as you look forward to buying or selling your property. Kathy also helps out with our abstracting department. Kathy has been active in her children's school, athletic and church activities. kathy@mcleodtitle.com
		Paul D. Dove* Paul has been a practicing attorney in the State of Minnesota for more than forty years. During the first part of his career, Paul was also a licensed Real Estate Broker. His certification as a Real Property Law Specialist by the Minnesota Bar Association means that he has passed a special exam, must continually attend continuing real estate courses covering real estate issues and devotes a substantial part of his practice to the real estate area. Paul has represented numerous developers and lending institutions as well as individual buyers in both commercial and residential transactions. He makes himself available to the staff at McLeod County Abstract & Title Services, L.L.C. on a daily basis to answer questions or to review particular real estate issues. He also prepares Title Opinions, when requested by its clients. *Certified as a Real Property Law Specialist by the Minnesota State Bar Association
